Mental Wanderlust...

An eclectic mix of mainly Central Asian and former Soviet Union news, plus a few weirdities and random articles that have caught my eye while wandering through the internet. Occasionally personal, mostly topical, generally intelligible, infrequently ranty and sometimes even entertaining - for a certain target demographic, at least... This blog is currently mothballed and currently (March 2010) I do not have any intention to start it up again. This may however change in the future.

I am a) very jealous, b) slightly dubious that the car will make it and c) going to do this rally one day - but I'd go for a Russian car as a) you get more car for your money even if it's an Oka (OK, that's going a bit too far - take a look at the crash test pictures, but still), and b) there might be more break downs, but they're more basic and spare parts are cheaper.

The Mongol Rally site is here.

Or maybe we could just sneak a lovely new UAZ jeep in - I still miss my old one and hope it's still in one piece in Wolverhampton (engineers get terrible ideas sometimes, and that one was virtually new by the time I got it home after a crash and a few break downs...). One day, one day...
